ASTROLOGY for THE WEEK AUGUST 9-15 2026
Mid-August and light is hot at a different angle. Shadows last longer in the morning than they did a month ago. First blackberries on the hedgerow, dapple between unready and ripe holding their red. This dry summer is no where ready to turn.
After months in the slightly bruised and inward emotional interior, first through the retrograde and then its slow recovery, MERCURY steps into LEO. Bolder, brighter and more interested in expression than in excavation. What moved through the underground of feeling and memory emerges now with confidence becoming speakable.
August 10th carries two vibrations simultaneously and they pull in different directions. Love touches the underground and finds it honest. Beauty that does not flinch from what is real, from the depth beneath the surface of our most significant connections, opens warmth and asks to be received. In the same moment our hearts veer toward dreaming and dissolving desirng to no longer hold boundaries between visual and experienced beauty.
Life force moves from quicksilver of the past weeks into practice on August 11th. There is a desire to gather close what we love and embroider it with fierce and feeling-led attention. Action is instinctual rather than strategic, led by what we register in our bellies. Our emotional body becomes the primary instrument of navigation this week and in those ahead. In AYURVEDA this is KAPHA moving through PITTA season, the instinct to protect and nourish entering the peak of the fire. We need to feel generously rather than to react defensively, to care for our emotional body with the same deliberateness as we offer our physical one. We need a little juicy sweetness over the coming days and feed our OJAS (subtle bodies). ECLIPSE FOOD is created for this. On the same day deep insight and inspired dreaming in the air we breathe means we may feel liberated and electrically alive in how we love and how we connect. It is really the exact day we need to live holistically before the ECLIPSE.
August 12th offers us the first solar eclipse in LEO in over a decade and the first TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE in thirty years. NEW MOONs bring beginnings. SOLAR ECLIPSES bring beginnings that cannot be undone, chapters that we live inside for years before we understand the full scope of what they initiated. The ECLIPSE falls in the LEO | AQUARIUS axis, of sovereign self and the collective it belongs to. What opens here is a portcullis for our-become-self that has been waiting to walk through. Storylines imploy plot twists and what happens now may feel like a factory reset. We understand in every drop of us that the permission was never going to come from outside. On August 15th we are electric, ideas amplified, vision expanded. MERCURY moved into fire on August 9th now meets the great expander JUPITER in the sign of creative sovereignty, and what becomes in this meeting is exponentially more vivid than anything we since the retrograde began in June (and even before then). This is a day for bold communication, voiced creative vision. Luck is with us. The idea held in private interior is offered to the world. Let JUPITER amplify what the eclipse began.
Most of the becoming blackberries I see now will be ripe by the end of this week. The light will have shifted again. I’m not going to hurry this along. This WEEKLY SKY is offering us something that will be harvested long after the summer has ended. Being fully present, understanding what to embrace and what not to hold tightly is exactly where we need to be.
